What Happens Next

Valid notices are processed promptly: we review the identified material, remove or disable access to material that is subject to a compliant notice, and notify the contributor or section involved where applicable. You will receive confirmation of the action taken. Notices missing the required elements will be returned with an explanation of what is needed — we process complete notices, and we do not act on incomplete ones, for the protection of all parties' rights.

Counter-Notification

If material you published through us (in comments or correspondence, for example) is removed following a copyright notice and you believe the removal was mistaken or misidentified, you may send a counter-notice including: identification of the removed material and its former location, your contact information, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, your consent to jurisdiction of an appropriate court, and your signature. We will forward compliant counter-notices to the original complainant and may restore the material after the statutory period absent further action.

Repeat Infringement

Accounts or contributors who repeatedly provide material subject to valid copyright complaints lose posting privileges permanently.

Abuse of This Process

Filing knowingly false copyright claims is itself unlawful, and this process is not a mechanism for suppressing coverage you dislike. Our reviews and commentary are protected expression; DMCA notices targeting opinion, criticism, or factual reporting will be contested on their merits.
